78Kauai is beautiful. There are no shopping malls or huge busy streets. The highest speed limit is 25 miles per hour. A very slow life on the island.

I hiked near a beautiful beach on the island of Kauai. For the life of me, I cannot remember the proper name of this beach because all of the signs around the beach just read “Beach: Do Not Swim”. It was very beautiful. There were a few times where I thought I was going to fall into the ocean and die from impact of the rocks.

The 52116second hike was in Waiama Canyon. Our goal was to hike to the falls, but after 45 minutes of trekking on the side of the canyon my group gave up and we turned back. Waiama canyon looked almost exactly like the Grand Canyon except more green.

The next day we went to the Allerton Gardens where an over-the-top tour guide (Mike) led us through the magnificent sites of the garden. He shared with us that most polynesian plants in Hawaii are not native to Hawaii at all. I can’t remember which one, but I think he said the only native plant to Hawaii was the pineapple and a certain coffee bean. Talk about liking beverages.  In the Allerton Gardens, Mike showed us where the scene in Jurassic Park when they find the dinosaur eggs???bones??? During the tour, Mike kept cutting off beautiful plants with therapeutic properties and giving them to the children. He brought us to the organic edible garden and offered us to try a magical fruit which changed your taste buds. When you ate the fruit, a lime would taste sweet.

During my visit to Kauai, I slept on the couch in a beautiful condo in Poipu. My bathroom had a washer and a dryer in it, and the door where i slept next to was always open to let mosquitos in to bite me. Kauai was freezing.
