Some of Sharon’s most cherished childhood memories revolve around food. Her father, line cook, worked at several Honolulu, Hawaii’s restaurants that are dependent on tourism. Sharon recounts eating at some of the finest restaurants and most notable cafes in Hawaii. As one might expect from any childhood memory, she vividly recounts the desserts her father ordered, such as haupia cake, filipino/japanese mochi and custard pies. These experiences formed Sharon’s attraction and eventual love affair with fine food, but more importantly her passion for desserts. Sharon began a culinary education at Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Kapiolani Community College with a degree in culinary, patisserie, and confisserie. Sharon worked for five years at the famous Sheraton: Moana Surfrider Hotel located in Honolulu, Hawaii in Waikiki as a pastry cook and assistant cook. She loves making desserts that her kids enjoyed, as well as her family and friends. Overwhelmingly, everybody loved the cupcake recipes and designs that Sharon created. They especially enjoyed the blend of wholesome ingredients, such as fresh butter and cream with locally grown fruits. Much like her children, Sharon discovered that her cupcakes could be dressed up, yet were fun and instantly loved upon their arrival at any event. After a few years in her test kitchen developing and refining a collection of unique cupcake flavors, she plans on starting her own cafe, pastry, confisserie shop someday in the near future. Look for Shar’s Oven in the near future.
